Hrant Ketenjian

Born in 1950 Baghdad, Iraq. Hrant Ketenjian graduated from conservatoire of music after studying 5 years of music (Flute). He played with the conservatory orchestra, and played so many flute solos with his brother Albert Ketenjian (pianist).

He worked as a music teacher in Baghdad and played guitar and sang with “Shiraq Band”. From 1969 to 1982 in so many clubs and was broadcasted on TV stations all over Iraq and the Middle East.

Hrant Ketenjian represented the Armenian song in the Youth festival, 1978 Cuba.

After graduating from the conservatory he went to the Academy of fine art. There he studied (Theater & Cinema) for 5 years, honorably graduating with a bachelor degree.

Hrant Ketenjian wrote and directed three short movies (The Bird Seller, Inside the Murderer and Tempo) and he worked for the Ministry of Education as a cameraman. Also he made a musical theater in 1977, participated in the documentary movie festival, in 1979 Germany.

He immigrated to Canada in 1982, and then he started playing in so many events in Canada and the United States of America.

Currently Hrant Ketenjian has his own art gallery Toronto, Canada, and plays duduk with Arthur Grigoryan Duduk and teaches duduk, zurna, shvi, guitar and flute.
